I love doing business in Romania! In the past couple of months I rented two 3bedroom family homes. They were intended to be my main office for running my internet business. In the mean time I came up with a thought that if I rented the rooms I would earn an abundance compared with what I paid for rent so now I do it and it worked out perfectly.

I had a site created called http://www.cazarebacaupensiune.ro/ which then I advertise it on Adwords with a relatively small budget. It brings people over who spend only 10 Euros each for the night and they enjoy a warm bed and a hot cup of coffee in the morning.

It's appealing for businesses who have workers who need a place to sleep during their contract over in Bacau. I had hosted groups of 15 people for 30 days, or 9 people for a week, and so on. I even have regulars now, regional distribuitors who come over from Bucharest weekely.

In one of our extracurricular activities at Delaware Tech, Kerri Harmon, Activities Coordinator at the time, told us, the students, an inspiring story I'd like to share with you:

The Power of Words

Once upon a time there was a bunch of tiny frogs...who arranged a running competition. The goal was to reach the top of a very high tower.

A big crowd had gathered around the tower to see the race and cheer on the contestants...

The race began...

Honestly, no one in crowd really believed that the tiny frogs would reach the top of the tower.

You heard statements such as:

"Oh, WAY too difficult!!"
"They will NEVER make it to the top."
"Not a chance that they will succeed.The tower is to high!"

The tiny frogs began collapsing. One by one...

Except for those, who in a fresh tempo, were climbing higher and higher...

The crowd continued to yell, "It is too difficult!!! No one will make it!"

More tiny frogs got tired and gave up...

But ONE continued higher and higher...

This one wouldn't give up!
At the end everyone else had given up climbing the tower. Except for the one tiny frog who, after a big effort, was the only one who reached the top!

THEN all of the other tiny frogs naturally wanted to know how this one frog managed to do it?

A contestant asked the tiny frog how he had found the strength to succeed and reach the goal?

It turned out...

That the winner frog was DEAF!!!

Never listen to other people's tendencies to be negative or pessimistic...because they take your most wonderful dreams and wishes away from you - the ones you have in your heart!

I encourage everyone around me to develop their charisma because in my view it is one of the most useful personal tools in your interaction with everybody. So, here goes:

Look confident (by feeling confident, having positive confident body language, and behaving as an equal to others).
Get in touch with your emotions (and with other people's).
Be genuine.
Match your body language to your speech (this tends to happen naturally if you are being genuine).

Meeting with Senator Dan Claudiu Tanasescu

My journey road map took me to Bucharest yesterday to a political meeting of a new Romanian politcal party: The Popular and Social Protection Party (Partidul Popular si al Protectiei Sociale) www.ppps.ro .

During the meeting when every romanian county leader had to present the candidates to the upcoming elections for the Romanian Parliament, Doina Ionet, Bacau's leader and VicePresident of the country's organization announced my candidacy to the Chamber of Deputies.

It was to my pleasant surprise that romanian Senator Dan Claudiu Tanasescu, the President of P.P.P.S. exclamed "Bravo!" and I could see it in his eyes that he was proud of seing a young 25-year-old taking genuine interest in assuming responsibility to bringing 'the new' to our country's leadership for the benefit of citizens just like the party's body-of-principles-presented-for-acceptance-or-belief says.

As it entered the room the man looked down in shame.
"Why did you not realise me ?" the dream asked.
"Because I was afraid," the man said.
"Afraid of what," said the dream.
"I was afraid I would fail."

"But haven't you failed by not attempting to use me?".
"Yes I did, but I always thought there would be tomorrow."
"You Fool!" said the dream" Did it never occur to you
that there was only ever today? the moment that you are in right now?

Do you think that now that death is here
that you can put it off until tomorrow?".
"No". said the man, a tear gently rolling down his cheek.
The dream was softer now, because it knew that there were two types of pain,
the pain of discipline and the pain of regret,
and while discipline weighs ounces, regret weighs pounds.

Then the dream leant forward to gently wipe away the tear and said,
" You need only have taken the first step
and I would have taken one to meet you,
for the only thing that ever separated us
was the belief in your mind that you couldn't have me".

Vasilica. She's put a mark on my life like no-one other. We grew up together as part of the Ensemble "Busuiocul" in Bacau.

We went on tours together with the entire group and we enjoyed a friendship that inspired me to be a good friend for many others..

When I listen to her singing, a beautiful world opens up in my heart.

Keeping the doors of access open: CCIF (Community College Infrastructure Fund)

I integrated so much in Delaware Tech's community that out of the people who passed by my display table the majority I saluted by name and I made *deposits into their emotional bank account.

Volunteering to support the CCIF project was an opportunity for me to be of service to Owens Campus at Delaware Tech. That was around March 5, 2007 when united groups of volunteers throughout all Delaware Tech's campuses joined up to support Orlando J. George, Jr. Delaware Tech's President and the college. Governor Ruth Ann Minner and the State Legislature who authorized a task force to investigate possible solutions to Delaware Tech’s capacity issue (http://www.dtcc.edu/access/index.html) and came up with a report that contained 3 solutions.

One of them was to establish a Community College Infrastructure Fund (CCIF).

Rockwood Mansion Park - Wilmington, Delaware

On February 3, 2007 I went to the Victorian style Mansion in Wilmington Delaware, Rockwood Mansion. This house/museum is a few blocks distance from where I used to live while I was an aupair (2004-2005), when either Saturdays or Sundays I would go there to study and enjoy a peaceful atmosphere.

Small talk, politeness, and "thank you's" from during that time..paid off, because after years of not going there, I was recognized, acknowledged, and saluted the minute I stepped in. It was a young lady in her early 70's, white hair, she knew exactely who I was, she greeted me and she made a point of not seeing each other for such a long time..

Fantastic experience!.. and I updated her on my progress. Incidentally, she was only visiting the mansion having not worked there anymore.

On January 14, 2007 I had found myself close to desperation not knowing what to do. I came back from Romania - the semester had started and I failed to register for classes and to begin the spring semester, and all of a sudden I begun to have a real positive attitude full of faith. It was the attitude of what-will-God-put-before-me is what-I'll-be-thankful-for.

I felt that there was a great opportunity coming my way, really soon. And what have you, only a few days later on January 18 the opportunity I was feeling to come soon had miraculously come up. Mrs. Diana Erney, who at the time was my international student adviser, called me up and told me Dr. Ileana Smith, Campus Director, really wanted me to graduate and awarded me the Campus Director Scholarship.

Mrs. Erney had contributed so much to all this, she even spoke with Dr. Stephanie Smith, Dean of Instruction (at the time) about me and they all united their powers and reached out and saved me from falling down. Thank you.

"I believe in myself" I told myself. Some of the most important goals were to graduate and transfer, but the most important for 2007 to come was to graduate.

Back in America. It's morning sometime now about 8:37 am. I am in the car listening to some Romanian music Stelica had on a CD he gave me. I really respect Stelian Prodan very much. He had helped me when I most needed help. I'll talk more about that later on.

I'm having challenges with Rehoboth Beach in general. Leaving by myself I've been learning the value of friendship and family.

Ever since I stopped smoking cigarettes, a major challenge was that I haven't found activities to really stimulate and motivate me very much. The American Cancer Society helped me with it's wonderful and fully free program ACS:: Guide for quitting smoking. Double your chances of quitting for good! in 2005 when my good friend, mentor, and just someone who helped me so much in many aspects, Jorge Armenta, motivated me enough to understand that cigarettes and smoking were not things I wanted for myself.
